The neck pickup and cover did not fit my jazz bass body without heavy modification. Otherwise they're decent for less than 40 bucks.

I have a Squier J-Bass with Seymour Duncan pickups that I really like, I'm, not a slapper and am not after a bright tone. I use flatwound strings and aspire to sound as much like an upright as I can imply.I happened to be doing some work on the bass (new tailpiece, tone cap, and nut) and decided to try a quick pickup swap and evaluation.If you're someone who expects to EQ your tone through a pedal or amp the Musiclily pickups will probably meet your needs. They're brighter than the SDs, and turning the tone down completely (Jaco tone) still left a bit too much edge for my taste. It's nothing an EQ pedal or amp couldn't improve but, as a comparison of the untreated output, these pickups lack some of the warmth I really value in this particular instrument (if I want Chris Squire brightness I'll grab my Rickenbacker strung with Rotosounds). Lowering the poles a bit from the strings cut some of that brightness, but diffused the sound and made it less defined, I realized that's actually the sweet spot of the SDs: a warm tone that remains well-defined.Bottom Line: These pickups are fine for a J-Bass if your preference is a bright tone, or you expect to process it. But if your goal is a more traditional Motown/Jazz tone, there are better options out there.

These sound very good, excellent quality

At $32.89 for the set, these should definitely be upgrades for a lot of OEM pickups on budget-priced basses. These seem to be made well enough and the sound is perfectly decent.
