Wilkinson M Series High Output Alnico 5 ST Single Coil Pickups Set for Strat Style Electric Guitar

Replaced ceramic pickups in a chinesium strat kit. I feel like these are more assertive in tone without limiting you to overdriven sounds.. these will do surf and Cramps tones in rhythm settings but also bright and brittle if you want. For the price these are good.

Upgraded a CV Strat with this middle pickup. It is for sure an upgrade for the CV and I think quite comparable to a Fender Player Series single coil, except lower output.

To me, if a guitar sounds good and I can create music with it that meets my standards of playability and sound, then it's a good instrument. The same holds true for its components.You don't need to rely upon the romantic cache of big brands (with even bigger prices). Use your ears and I think you'll agree that these pickups do exactly what Wilkinson claims for less than half the price of big-name pickups with comparable output and sound.I put these in one of my recent builds and have only heard positive comments from professional players.You get my point. They're well worth a try. I don't care where they were made (no listener does either). I am extremely happy with them.NOTE: If you try them, upon receipt, check them immediately for functionality. If one doesn't work, send 'em back. They'll replace 'em right away.

I got these pickup mostly as an experiment to see if I was a schmuck for buying more expensive pickups in the past. I threw them in my squier strat and I noticed they sounded almost percussive. Did a few quick tests and confirmed that they are microphonic. The pickups obviously have been waxed in the factory but I suspect they were just briefly dipped in wax as opposed to vacuum potted for a longer period of time. They sound good for the most part but the microphonics muddy the sound. I believe this is fixable if I pot them myself but it is extra hassle, essentially you get what you pay for.

Quick delivery and nice packaging.The quality is good. Installed easy with no issues.Very loud pickups. Not a very wide tonal range.I’m not sure about the sound. It’s very crunchy and sharp with some gain. Great for classic rock songs. The cleans are sort of meh, kind of muddy, with some glassiness to it.I’ll have to play around with my amp settings, pickup height etc for awhile.
