    Another poorly translated instruction guide

I very much dislike the bad translation from Chinese to English. The instructions simply repeat vague highlights of the product but nowhere does it show how to orient the pickup into the saddle slot. Specifically, I don't know if the wire goes to the "E" string or to the "G" string and I'd prefer not to drill excessive holes. I do not recommend this for an inexperienced person who can't read Chinese.

    It works

Though this is a bargain pickup, I have used a couple of them now and they work fine. In fact the tone is nicer than most more expensive available options. I run it into an EMG piezo preamp, then use a 25K pot to control the volume and/or tone. For better string pressure on the individual elements, I use a bone saddle cut in the middle.

I needed to play with the saddle a bit to get this pickup to sound balanced. When I first installed it, the "E" string was much louder than the other strings. I made sure the bottom of the saddle and the slot were deadly flat but still no better. I checked the pickup and discovered the E was 2 thousandths higher so I lightly filed some material away under the E string and now it's working fine. I had the knowledge and tools to fix the problem, but if someone without the expertise had tried it, they would have been disappointed. All's well that ends well I suppose and the acoustic bass sounds great now
