I put this 'mudbucker' in the bridge position of a customer's Epiphone EB-0 bass, as the stock one in the neck position was just too muddy. It's a perfect replacement fit for the original Epi pickup, and is constructed like the originals, with two 'sidewinder' coils facing a central row of poles. It's huge and heavy - and bassy. The pole-piece spacing is slightly wider than the Epiphone pickup, so the original Epi cover won't fit. The new pickup does come with its own cover, but mine was slightly damaged in transit. I'm not going to mark the product down for that as it was almost certainly done by the carrier, but Artec might want to look at improving the packaging. The body needs some pretty substantial routing, and you need to be quite accurate, as the cover is barely bigger than the hole you need. The pickup is designed for the neck position, and because the EB-0 has an angled neck, the strings are quite far from the poles when it's put in the bridge position. I suggested adding a spacer ring, but the customer wanted to try it without. he was right - the new pickup is considerably more powerful than the Epiphone one in the neck, so the two actually balance quite well together. The sound in the neck position is still pretty muddy if I'm honest! But that's a characteristic of the pickup, and both of us are very happy with the result. It's called a 'Mudbucker' for a reason, and the reason certainly isn't it's crisp treble and clarity! If you absolutely have to have a Mudbucker, this is an excellent choice!

It was a step up from the original

It was a step up from the original but it was not as good as i expected, the sound quality was a bit dull but it's not as good as a gibson Bass pickup so i guess it's ok for what i paid.
