OK generally you get what you pay for and this is no real exception. The pickup came wrapped in bubble wrap and put into a small sealed plastic bag. A guitar pick and some screws and springs for mounting came with it. The lead wire is thin as you might expect. And the tape wrapped around the winds looks like common rubbery black electrical tape. So yes it feels cheap. The bottom plate (which is gold colored) is only attached by one wire that is soldered to it, and kind of held to the bottom by the magnet. When you mount the pickup, the pickup mounting screws need to go down into this gold piece. They go through the bridge, down into the black plastic flange of the pickup, through the springs or the guitar's stock latex washers/tubes, and through this gold piece. Lining this all up when the gold piece is shifting around is a pain in the neck.Once I installed the pickup and plugged everything back in, it actually sounds better than the stock pickup. The tone knob works well with the pickup and a range of sounds are available. For those that care, I measured the resistance at 6.1. On sound alone it would actually get a four or five star from me. The construction quality docks it down to three though.
