This was a perfect replacement pickup for a project i started a while back. Great tone and fit.

    Potting done improperly

The wax potting on this pickup is done at the wrong stage during assembly, making it ineffective. Wax potting is meant to permeate the copper windings to prevent movement. These pickups have had electrical tape wrapped around the windings and metal cover placed over before potting. This results in a pickup where none of the wax permeates the windings and does not actually do its job. Be prepared to take the pickup apart and redo the wax potting yourself.

I installed these on my Squier Telecaster 40th anniversary edition, and in comparison to the stock pickups its a huge upgrade. Especially the neck pickup. However, the included screws for the said pickup does not work. They didnt attach to the pickup, at all. Fortunately, the original bridge pickup screws worked. The screws for the bridge pickup worked fine, though. The pickups are 5/5 but the mounting issue pulls it down to 4/5 in total.I highly recommend these for your Squier standard Alnicos. Cant beat them for the price.

    Very Decent but not great

Im going through the process of dialing in yet another telecaster and threw an sd quarter pounder in the bridge. Original pickups on this one were both ceramic import pickups. They didnt sound "bad", but lacked in areas specific to my needs. The bridge needed more beef, the neck needed more clarity. The quarter pounder sounds terrific in the bridge on that guitar so on to the neck pickup swap. This pickup, while being closer to what i wanted in the first place, isnt a complete win. Its definitely a clearer sounding neck pickup than the ceramic 1 it replaces but not by much. We're talking like a 10 percent difference. Also, i modded it to work in a series/parallel mod and it works just fine for that as well. Now for the good. With my rig, it cleans up well, has some nice chunk to. Almost strat neck pickup vibes for power chord and bluesy stuff. Clearly lower output than the quarter pounder i have in the bridge and you can hear the drop in gain when switching but not necessarily a negative. Its not noisy, and even through a crunchy amp with a drive pedal in front, its not trying to feedback and even the background noise is lower than the bridge pickup. If you were replacing the pickups in a tele that didnt have any to begin with, i think the matched set of these pickups would be a good value and they are easy to install if you are already familiar with the process. Modifying it to do the series mod isnt a big deal either. That being said, if you have something substantial in the bridge position like a quarter pounder, you might be way better off with a matched set of those. But again, cant complain for the price and tone

Bin absolut zufrieden.
