Musiclilly typically makes amazing products that offer budget friendly alternatives to name brand components, most of which are an upgrade over stock components on cheaper guitars!Upon opening the pickups, you can tell they are nice from the weight and the lead wire from the pickups being braided is a nice touch! I take a star away because the wire is not 4 wire configuration and cannot be tapped. This was actually going to keep from installing these altogether as that is a functionality I almost always use. I decided to take a chance on these and I am glad I did!I took the time to record a DI video of the pickups going through a cheapo multifx pedal, but even in this, you can hear the subtlety of the ALNICO V pickups. The neck pickup is a nice blend of output and chime. In the higher strings/frets you actually get a little of that single coil spank mixed in with the butter smooth. These two sounds typically don't exist together because the buttery tone requires more output and rolled highs where the spank is less output and more highs. This neck pickup somehow does a bit of both! The bridge pickup has a nice growl to it but does sound a little weak compared to the neck, possibly from less bass but the bridge makes up for it in high end cut. Overall, in a full band context I find it more balanced that when it is soloed. You'll be able to get perfect classic rock tone with a bit of extra push from this bridge pickup!I typically like ceramic pickups and split the coils often. I wasn't expecting to like this set as the magnet characteristics are different from what I am used to, but so far, I have been really impressed in these pickups' ability to capture the ALINCO V sound.
