I just electrified my Ibanez tenor guitar!! With the pickup in the sound hole, it sounds great. Warm, jazzy sound! This is great!!

    Exactly what I needed.

I had an inexpensive lap steel out in the garage. It had been neglected for about ten years. Friends in the band asked if I could learn a few songs on it. When I got it out of the garage it was pretty dead. This kit was a perfect solution. Everything is there and pre-soldered. The only soldering I did was the ground wire. It went right in and is working fine. Installation did not challenge my meager skills at all. Hey, it's not a Tex-Mex pickup, but this is working just fine for now.

New life to an old mandolin!

The product came pre-wired and the solder joints were decent enough I didn't have to redo any of them. I was able to cut holes in an old junker mandolin I was rebuilding, and easily place the pickups into it. I didn't use all the original framing vinyl parts it came with, and because of that-- in my finagling-- I ended up stripping the plastic threads the screws use to raise and lower the pickup height. This was because of the nonsense stress I was putting on them while fitting them to the old junker. It's good to note though that the plastic isn't super durable, but also good to note that if you treat them normally, i doubt this will be a problem for most buyers. The sound is great, installation was relatively painless, and they sound great through pedals and amps. I've been very happy with the final product and sound quality despite the low price!

Single Coil cigar-box pickup with pots and 1/4" plug-in

As soon as the pickup arrived I connected it to a small amplifier and confirmed it works. That's a good sign!I'm still building the rest of the guitar so I won't know exactly how well it plays with 6 steel strings until its finished and adjusted properly.Single-coil pickups work differently than double-coil pickups in that there's more chance of distortion and feedback, not always promising a clean sound. I like that idea because it's not "distortion" to me but the greater reality of electronics introduced to the sonics. Modern compositions are less about traditional music and more about the sonics. Exploring qualities of nature turned inside-out in atomic vibrations. This pickup is to be located far in the back just in front of the bridge where the vibration of the stings is more discrete and easier to place exactly for the sweetest response. The simple fact that it works, and its such a simple device means that with the proper adjustments (and amplification, etc) I can make the sound I want to hear. This is a really good deal! -Thanks.This is about a week later and I just got the main parts of my "Lap-Steel" assembled so it could be tested and played. Plugged in to my little 5w amplifier, I expected some faint or tinny sonics but it was a fat sound, especially in the bigger wire-wrapped steel strings, which depending on how I set the volume, tone and drive/overdrive was in a fantastic range from mellow and smooth to steely and dirty and coarse. Wonderful! I had been so careful to align the steel strings over the centers of each pickup, but i moved things around and exact placement isn't a big deal, since there's a wide area where the pickup works. Just be sure you get good quality steel strings.I'm very happy and excited with my new instrument! This was really a VERY GOOD DEAL!!!!

    Sorprendente
